Why You Can’t Update Your WordPress Blog?

How often do you go away for a while and return to you blog and found that you can’t post again?

I was on oversea assignment for 6 months and today when I logged into my blog and hit this problem. Everytime when I want to publish a post, add an image to my post, update a setting in a plugin or make changes to a php file, the server will return a 404 message. Obviously you will think this can’t be right since you haven’t touched your blog’s wp-admin page all this time so nothing has changed?

You are technical enough so you Google and found many other bloggers are also having the same problem. Even though the descriptions of their problems are no exactly the same as yours, however all of them are hitting the 404 errors? Some of them managed to resolve their problems and has documented their solution. But no matter how much you tried making those changes to your blog, you still can’t resolve the issue.

This is one time when the solution is not within your control.

I have spent almost two days reading all the descriptions posted on the WordPress.org forum related to this problem and have been trying out all the recommendations, I just couldn’t resolve this problem.  I make all the recommended changes to the .htaccess file as suggested by this page but the problem still persists.

I have been regularly updating the WordPress version of my blog so I think I have a very up-to-date WordPress installation. I would imagine that all the latest updates have all the fixes related to this problem and yet I am still getting it. I was running version 2.9 at that time so having failed to resolve this problem, I thought I would upgrade to the latest 3.0 version. Still the problem wouldn’t go away.

So I am back to doing more research on Google to see what else is causing this. Finally I hit the jackpot when I read this post about some security exploit is targeting WordPress blog and the newer version of the WordPress has include some update that has made false positives on the security exploit. However there is no way for the WordPress software to prevent the exploit from happening so the only solution is to turn off the safe mode at the server site. This is being done by the hosting company as precaution but the hosting company do not inform you of the change. Therefore, no matter how you tweak you blog settings, this issue will not go away until your hosting company turn off the safe mode for your account.

With this new finding, I contacted my hosting company and they turn off safe mode for my account. Now I can post again and I am a happy camper.

So if you are hitting into the same problem, contact your hosting company to get it resolved.

Don’t Let Pop Under Ad Take Over Your Site Identity

I was not aware that when you install a script for pop under ad, it could take over your site identity until I watched a video by one of the Internet Marketer yesterday.

The Google Toolbar has an button for “Cached snapshot of page” which can show you a snapshot of your website that has been cached by Google. One use of this feature is to see what Google see on your site. By looking at the text information display by the “cached snapshot”, you can make changes to your website to improve the SEO aspect of your site.

When I tried the “cached snapshot of page” on one of my site last week, I saw that Google has cached a snapshot of that site which I have recently changed completely. At first I thought this must be due to the timing but after reviewing the text information displayed, I realized that Google has not cached the revamped site at all because as far as Google is concern, it is only seeing the URL of the pop under ad.

I had installed a script for monster splash recently on this website and this ad actually took over my website completely. The URL displayed on the browser is the URL of the ad and the title displayed is no longer my website but the ad title. I saw it when I first implemented the script but I don’t understand the implication then. Now that I have use the “cached snapshot of the page” feature I finally know got it. and that’s the reason why Google has not cached a snapshot of my revamped website at all for the last month or so because it didn’t see my site instead it see the site of the ad all the time.

I quickly removed the pop under ads scripts from all my websites and now Google bot is correctly caching a snapshot of my revamped website. I just check again as I write this post and Google bot has just crawled my site and captured a snapshot just two hours ago.

If you are actively using pop under ad, please make sure that the URL and the title displayed in your browser is that of your website and not from the ad itself.

Not that I have seen how Google is “seeing” my site, the other way to improve the SEO of the site is really to look at an SEO optimized theme. That will be my next target.

Hope this help.

How to Explode Your Affiliate Income!

If you are looking for another way to explode your affiliate income, I have an interesting blog post for you.

The Internet Marketing landscape really started to change when videos started to grow popular on the Internet in recent years. Affiliate Marketing was not exempted, either.

The most classic mistake people tend to make in affiliate marketing is not capturing the opt-in leads first before sending their visitors to the merchant’s website.

So some smart marketers do is that they would have their own Squeeze Page for the visitors to opt into their list, before sending them to the website they are an affiliate for. This is so the affiliate marketer can build his own opt-in list and do his follow-ups later.

A few but exceptionally smarter marketers, on the other hand, take this to the next level. They implemented video marketing.

You probably notice most top Internet Marketing experts are now using videos on their Squeeze Pages exclusively. And smarter affiliates are also doing the same for their own, for one obvious reason – videos can skyrocket your traffic and sales conversions.

Unfortunately, the problem with video marketing is that to begin with, you have to know how to make your own videos. And even if you could do your own videos, what if you learn that the affiliate program doesn’t convert well for you after all?

Affiliate Power Videos remove all these barriers.

At Affiliate Power Videos, you get 10 unique, high converting Video Squeeze Pages, and 5 new ones every month.

So all you have to do is:

Step 1: join any or all of the listed affiliate programs (free)

Step 2: Upload the video and squeeze pages to your web host

Step 3: Start driving in traffic, build your opt-in list and rake in affiliate sales!

You might be thinking that this is going to be a costly monthly membership – maybe $97, $197 or even $297 a month. You’re going to be in for a pleasant surprise — this one is on the house (read: zero cost)!

If you want to find out how you can maximize your traffic and sales conversions, I really urge you to sign up for your free Silver membership access now and don’t delay – because I know you could very well have  your own string of affiliate video businesses up and running by tonight, with or without any techical experience on your part!

My First Auto Video Site

I just launched my first auto video site using the Auto Content Cash (ACC) system that I bought earlier. I wrote a review on Auto Content Cash back in March 2010.

Having built several auto content sites using the Auto Content Cash system, I was spending times tweaking some of these sites and got to a point where I think I am just over-thinking. So I just stop doing that and go back to watch some of the videos one more time. As I was watching one of the video on auto blogging, it strucked me that I can build my own auto video site too.

Since I do part time forex trading, I regularly go out to find free training videos on forex trading. So why not build an auto video site on forex trading training of my own. I can now watch all the videos on one site instead of scouting around the Net for these videos. Using the ACC system, I was able to quickly put up a site within an hour and launched it. The only cost I have to incur is the domain name I bought for this site. The rest of the tools are all free as they are provided by the ACC system.

To add more value to this site, I was looking for some freebies for anyone visiting this site. It come in the form of an email for one of the forex list that I subscribed to.

A forex trader by the name of Karl Dittmann has just released his new forex product called “Forex Cash Rocket“. As part of his launch, he has given away (for free) one of his Expert Adviser (EA) and a trend indicator. I downloaded these two tools and have been using it on my demo account.

I thought it would be good to put up the link to these two tools for anyone visiting my auto video site. When you click on that link it will bring you to Karl’s sale page for Forex Cash Rocket. If you are not buying his product, just wait for a pop-up screen and then you’ll have to opt-in before he send you the link to these two tools.

Here is a video from Karl’s explaining what is Forex Cash Rocket.

I hope you enjoy the videos on my auto video site.

PS. The link to Kark’s site include my affiliate link. If you do purchase his product, I will get paid as well.
